Death of Warmbrod Premium Cable, 'Til Death & J.B. Smoove

Life- Warmbrod style has not been the same since Brentwood cut off our 'free' HBO. Here's the history:

Pre-digital cable, we had access to HBO and Showtime without paying any astronomical fees- a perk of living in the Brentwood area as I understand it. We laughed with Curb Your Enthusiasm, enjoyed the Saturday night movies, walked on the wild side with the Sopranos...

Next thing you know, a 'free' digital box arrives in the mail. We promptly installed this new box, and called the cable company to notify them of their oversite- there must have been a mistake, we couldn't access HBO with the digital box. Was there some mistake?

What a rude awakening! The digital cable box would not include the HBO deal as before- but we could PAY additional for it. What?! The old bait and switch!!! With the digital box on the main TV and standard cable on our other TV, we could get our premium channel fix- take that, Comcast!

Team Warmbrod won the battle, and as I was just preparing for the new season of The Tudors on Showtime, we lost the war. Suddenly, and without warning, I turned on the non-digital bedroom TV and HBO and Showtime were no more.

In protest, we have vowed never (NEVER?!) to pay additional for HBO and Showtime. This means that we may show up unannounced on the doorsteps of friend HBO subscribers to catch up on Curb Your Enthusiasm Episodes (via On Demand) when the new season rolls around.

As a consolation prize, Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm is now on 'Til Death for a few episodes on Fox. He's our fave and you can catch an episode here:

'Til Death Episode with J.B. Smoove- a must see!!!

I am watching it now and he's a laugh riot....

Wonderful People, Fabulous Pizza, and Talladega, too!

My friends at Hunt Brother's Pizza will have a car at Talladega this weekend- I can honestly say that I have never been so excited about racing!!!! A sincere thanks to the folks at Hunt Brothers for serving pizza at the Nashville Habitat for Humanity 16 home dedication on Sunday. They came out with hot, fresh pizza and served hundreds of guests. If you haven't had their FABULOUS pizza, you can find a location near you at the Hunt Brother's Pizza website. We get ours at the Brentwood Market- it's a great alterative to fast food when you are headed to soccer practice, etc. And don't forget to cheer for car #70 this weekend!

Adorable Dog Needs Home

Update: DOG FOUND HOME!!!! YIPPY!!! Help find this cutie a home! Please let people know about this little dog so that we can find him a family. Leave me a comment if you know anyone that's interested in making this dog a part of their family.
Here's the message that I received from a friend:
This is my dog named Highway, we found running across a highway, I need to find him a home... He is a Border Collie mix about 4 mos old. He is a really sweet dog, he likes to think he is a lap dog. If you or someone you know would like a dog, he's free. He is due for his next round of shots.

First Grade Business Day

Blaine haggles with his school principal over the price of a 'surpise bag'.

First Grade kids ran their own businesses today at school. Students brought items or services to sell and took turns being store owners and shoppers. We all used paper money to buy the goods and we could keep the goods that we bought. It was a great opportunity to buy bookmarks, chocolates, get a pedicure, a massage, or lemonade or even dig for jewels at a great price! Check out these entrepreneurs on my slideshow:

Other April Happenings....

Pappy's favorite childhood story, Scuffy, is fast becoming one of Drew's favorites.

You can see these and other Warmbrod April Events at April Slide Show

We Felt the Earth Move

Since we are up anyway watching the TV, I thought I would blog this historical moment. We were just awakened at between 4:35 and 4:40 with about 10 seconds of a shaking house! We both thought we were crazy, but it's actually an earthquake just above Evansville, Indiana. We pray those closer to the event are okay, but we are just fine here in Tennessee.

Mum's Birthday Song... Kickin off the Party

So my birthday is not until next week, but this video is a must see. Blaine wrote me this song when he was four- while I was pregnant with Andrew. Blaine's preschool 'music appreciation class' kicked off each morning in the car with Daddy. He sang 'All Apologies' rolling through Home Depot when he was two and tears of joy swelled in Tommy's eyes. Thanks to influences like Metallica, Guns n Roses (I've got a great Mr. Brownstone rendition to upload later) and Nirvana, this birthday song has all of the elements of a classic rock song: he talks of momma, uses the word 'baby' at least once, gives props to God above, etc. He's gonna work on the guitar solo, which will put the joint over the top.

Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday..Dear Mommy
Happy Birthday to You...Dear Mommy
Havin a baby...Andrew
And everyone...that's havin' a birthday
Thank you God for birthdays
Rock On
OH Yeah, OH Yeah, OH Yeah
